Wondering what are some of the great resources that I use and recommend for consumers, insurance agent and those running their own website?? Here’s a list of services and resources that we’ve found useful and you may as well in no particular order:
Note: some of these companies do provide affiliate payments to help support this site if you purchase through the link. However, this does not increase the fees of these resources. This is a great way for you to get a service you can use and to support the information that I provide.
ValChoice applies advanced information technology, sophisticated quantitative analysis and data mining to calculate the value of the insurance you buy. Most importantly,ValChoice’s analysis is easy-to-understand. ValChoice shows how good every insurance company is using a fuel-gauge-style image. For the first time ever, every consumer of insurance can know if the company they are buying insurance from is charging a fair price for the protection and service they deliver. ValChoice is independent and unbiased. The ValChoice rating system is not influenced by insurance companies.
Communication & Brand Analysis:
Communicating is such an important part of life and there is always room for improvement, just ask my wife….. A great tool is the Fascination Advantage whose personality brand analysis identifies your personality’s top Advantage at work. Unlike other tests, this doesn’t measure how you see the world… it measures how the world sees you. Over the past two decades of research on communication, Sally Hogshead has found that there are seven different ways to communicate and add value to your listener. When you add value to your listener, you fascinate them. Fascination is an intense focus. When you fascinate your clients or co-workers, they’re focused on you, and your message.
The VitalSales Suite by Ebix Exchange offers some great tools for Insurance Agents. A cornerstone is VitalSigns which allow the user to generate report of carrier financials and ratings for life insurance companies. Other quoting and research tools are for insurance forms, term comparisons, universal life comparisons, long term care insurance comparisons and annuity comparisons.

The National Insurance Producer Registry is a one-stop shopping for all aspects of electronic producer licensing. Visit them at NIPR . Find links to all State Insurance Department Website on the Insurance Regulatory Agencies Page (click here).
ConvertKit is my current email marketing program that also includes an easy to use marketing automation system. If you want an all-around, easy to use program, this what I’d recommend. ConvertKit allows you to manage users onto multiple lists, has easy to build forms and can do online courses through it’s marketing automation. As a member of the insurance industry, this allows you to track what your audience is interested in and provide them with just that information.
Website Hosting & Tools:
For domain registration, basic hosting and email service, I’ve used Hostgator for years and they’ve done a great job and you can call them up and talk to a real person on the phone!
For The Insurance Literacy Institute, a more robust WordPress Hosting service was needed and for that I’m using WPEngine. Again, great customer support.
Site speed is essential to conversion rates and SEO rankings; every second of additional load time on a website will inevitably turn into lost revenue. Luckily, you can evaluate the root causes of decreasing site speed with WP Engine’s new Wordpress Speed Test. This is an incredibly helpful tool for site owners to recognize that they are losing money with every additional second it takes for their site to load. Test your website with the WP Engine WordPress Speed Test.
Once you have a website, I recommend WordPress.WordPress is web software you can use to create a beautiful website, blog, or app. The core software is built by hundreds of community volunteers, and when you’re ready for more there are thousands of plugins and themes available to transform your site into almost anything you can imagine. Over 60 million people have chosen WordPress to power the place on the web they call “home” — we’d love you to join the family.
Forms are a great tool to have on your site and Formidable Forms is what I use to display all of the Insurance Agent listings and also the Insurance Designations. As you can see it’s flexible and looks great along with being easy to use. Formidable Forms allows you to do more with your data – display it, create posts, tables, graphs and much more. It’s developer friendly with completely customizable form HTML and hooks everywhere. Formidable Forms also has a full set of tools including field calculations and conditional logic along with a simple drag and drop interface and visual styler which make building WordPress forms a breeze.
Stripe: Having a payment system is important for a website. Recently, I switched to Stripe, it’s easy to use and handles your payments from start to finish. Stripe has many features and allows you to configure with and accept payments from Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, Discover.
College Funding Ideas:
If you need help learning about ways to fund college tuition, the best resource on the web is The College Solution by Lynn O’Shaughnessy. Here’s Lynn’s description of what her site is about: My chief goal is to help families with teenagers become smart college shoppers as they search for schools. I also focus on educating high school counselors, college consultants and financial professionals, who need to understand how they can assist families with evaluating their choices and bringing their college costs down. College is often the second biggest expense in a family’s life, but high school counselors and consultants usually don’t understand how to make college more affordable and neither do financial advisers.
